Local Living in London
As I was planning my fourth visit to London and poring over accommodation options (one of my LEAST favorite parts about traveling), my mind kept drifting back to July and the 2 blissful nights I spent in my own apartment near Hammersmith.
I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again — apartment rentals really can be the best accommodation option when you travel. Especially in a bustling city like London where you really need a quiet place of your own to come back to in the evenings.
Booked through Central London Apartments, my stay at a one-bedroom flat at Lamington Apartments was nothing short of ideal for a weekend in London.
The Pros
The flat
The itself looked brand new, and was bright and airy on the inside. It had its own private entry, and I did not have to deal with another person beyond picking up my keys at the office. Inside the apartment, the kitchen/dining/living room was welcoming and comfortable, the bathroom was large, and the bedroom was bright and perfect for relaxing.
The amenities
The flat had all the usual things an apartment should have — and some extras such as a nice-sized flat-screen TV with cable, free wifi, and even a washing machine.
The little touches
There were snacks on the table, tea and coffee on the counter, and flowers and little decorations all over the flat. I immediately felt welcomed and at home here, which is really what sets serviced apartments apart from the usual hotels and hostels.
The location
The Lamington Apartments are only a 5-7 minute walk from Hammersmith Tube station, which gives you easy access to the District, Hammersmith & City, and Picadilly lines. The apartments are in a quiet residential neighborhood on a pretty street, with a few restaurants and small shops nearby. I thought the location was really fantastic.
The Cons
I really don't have anything negative to say about this accommodation option. I should note that these flats are NOT air conditioned, though. However, even though I was there during a heat wave in London, it wasn't a huge issue. The windows in the living room let in a nice breeze in the evenings, and I was left a large electric fan in the bedroom as well.
All in all, I would highly recommend these apartments as an accommodation option in London.
